Beating Retreat: Pak Sikh Ranger Participated In Traditional Ceremony For The First Time

New Delhi: A Sikh Ranger from Pakistan first time attended the Beating the Retreat ceremony at Wagah Border on Thursday, making it a historical moment.

The traditional ceremony, which is carried out every evening between India and Pakistan since 1959, first time, witnessed the participation of a person from Sikh community from Pakistan.

Crowd at both sides of the border was anxiously awaiting for the rangers to begin the ceremony. Their patience beared sweet fruit as they get hold of the rare sight of Sikh ranger performing at the Beating Retreat.

The people welcome his participation with a warm round of applause. The ambience filled with joy and cheer when he shaked hands with the Indian ranger.

Amarjeet Singh, the Sikh ranger, joined the Pakistan army in 2009 and completed his training this year. He is the resident of Nankana Sahib, the holy city which holds great importance in Sikh history

While talking about being in Pakistan army, Amarjeet said that he feels proud in serving his country. Further, he mentioned that he would happily die for the country if the situation comes.

Before him, Gyan Chand was the first Hindu to join the Pakistan army in the year 2009.
