Vishwas Chauhan’s ‘Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi’ Is A Special Ode To Childhood Friendships & Growing Up

Indian web series scene is booming like anything, and after the success of mega produced and backed series, we now have creative and writers coming in from different parts of the country to reach out to their digital audience. Vishwas Chauhan’s newest web series, ‘Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi‘, is the latest addition to the list. Released on Stage App, a regional entertainment platform that has a series of content in Haryanvi, Rajasthani, and other regional languages.

‘Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi‘ was released on the app on December 4th and it’s created and stars Vishwas Chauhan. Apart from being a theatre artist, we all know of Chauhan from the Great Indian Laughter Challenge 2017 where he was one of the finalists of the show, and certainly an audience favourite.

We recently watched the show and we can’t help but laugh and cry in various parts of the series.

‘Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi‘ is directed by Satender Satya Sehrawat, and it is about two childhood best friends who have always been there for each other, but with time they have to select different routes for their life. And, now, one of these two is getting married and the show decodes the entire journey between the two during the wedding.

If you’re a 20-something trying to navigate through life and have seen a gazillion of your friends getting married in recent years, then this is a perfect weekend binge-watch for you. The series is super relatable, especially for the young audience, plus, it’s a good slice-of-life comedy and drama to take your mind off the mundane and monotonous days of working from home and being under a lockdown.

The series in itself has various highs for us, both in terms of situations and acting. From remarkable music sequences and funny scenes to real and super interesting characters like the Chacha. Another amazing thing about the series is that it’s both light and heavy weighted at the same time. On one side we are going through these funny pre-wedding jab friends have between each other, and suddenly we see the series shedding light on how important wedding is treated like in our society, along with an absence of it.

‘Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi‘ is not limited to a fun wedding series, it also works around our society’s underlying tryst with superstitions and how it still judges people on what they have, rather than what they’re capable of.

If you have been a fan of Vishwas Chauhan and have followed his journey on the Great Indian Laughter Challenge, then you would be able to spot the similarities that the reel life Chauhan has with real-life Chauhan. The actor has tried to keep his own reality in the show to maximize the reality and impact of the story.

All in all, we had great fun watching this series and we are 100 percent you will too. The best thing, you can easily enjoy it with your entire family, unlike the majority of web series available these days.

Moreover, the series’ first season ended with a to-be continued hook which has left the viewers with indefinite questions about the same. Will Vishu attend the wedding, what about him and Priya, what’s the actual story about Chacha and how will Vishu’s life decisions further go? All of this and much much more is supposed to be explored in the second season of the show and we just can’t wait for it!
