What Are Cinema Pods That PVR Is Going To Introduce In Theatres?

In the world of the entertainment, at this point in time, there could not have been a bigger news than the tie up between the famous PVR Cinemas of India and that of Oma Cinema in France.

These are two prominent forces in the sphere of entertainment.

On the one hand stands a powerhouse in the world of cinematic experience, among the very best that the world has to offer and on the other hand, one of the most revered names in the cultural and entertainment milieu of India, a company that was started, lest it is forgotten, way back in 1997.

And now was two eminent leaders in the entertainment broadcast segment have joined hands, it seems that the biggest beneficiary of this alliance is the viewer or the cinema-goer as one would say.

But how’s that, you might ask? A relevant question for a relevant time!

Though before we jump into any further details, it makes absolutely sense to understand just what is the most important facet of what is a brand new collaboration between France and India, two economies of the world that believe in a culture of prosperity and shared growth.

To that end, it helps to know that for the first time in India, will we get to see the concept of cinema pods, something that hitherto the current date, wasn’t part of the multiplexes anywhere in the country.

Cinema pods, for those of us who may not be exactly aware, are a seating arrangement that helps the audience achieve a high degree of cinematic experience. Lest it is forgotten, an inherent feature of this arrangement is the tiered balconies, which could also be called as ‘pods.’

In some ways, therefore, it may not be wrong to compare the need for architecture, inherent in the concept of pods, to the story of a film, which is but the fundamental of a movie.

Just like you cannot simply imagine a tightly structured and intelligently told story as being the key to a widely-received movie, the same way you cannot expect the concept of ‘cinema pods’ to survive and thrive without the concept of neat and well conceived architecture.

The Chican family is at the back of whatever we know the Oma cinemas of France to be.

Here’s what a news piece covering the exclusive tie up between PVR cinemas and Oma of France had to say (the excerpts taken from Financial Express):

Having “an option to have a private movie party with friends and family, OMA pods shall be your own space offering an unmatched bespoke experience of watching a film on a very large screen alongside specially-crafted F&B options. Many corporates have been used to their own box at sporting events in stadia, and now they shall have an option to have one in a cinema too,” Arora added.

Oma Cinema was created by renowned French architect Pierre Chican who has designed some of the most cutting-edge cinemas in France over the last 30 years, the statement said.
