The world of cloak and dagger does get to be a little rusty after a passage of time. And effectively what could contribute to it’s rusticity and sameness could be the prospect of seeing the same actor turn up time and again in the role of the sharp, unputdownable spy: Double O Seven James Bond.
Few roles have intrigued us as much in the world of espionage as that of James Bond.
For over a decade, it’s been our pleasure to see Daniel Craig, star of other non-Bond flicks such as Munich, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Enduring Love helming the role of the charming and sassy spy. So when he completed filming for what his last appearance as James Bond in Spectre, one of the most polarised Bond films of date, there were nerves everywhere.
Of course, there was speculation in them whether Daniel Craig had done what had been his last role as James Bond. Guesswork had begun everywhere from film circles to Hollywood bazaars in speculating as to who might turn up to be the greatest British agent on the film screen. And then all forecasts turned into malarkey as Craig returned to helm his duties again for what is currently titled as Bond 25: inarguably named after the 25th construction in the continuation of the Bond legacy.
So now the question has returned to its old position: what next after James Bond star Daniel Craig completes Bond 25, which releases later this year? Well, apparently another name has emerged from the gallows of cinematic suspicion and it’s that of actor Aiden Turner, an Irish star of several box office ventures such as And Then There Were None, The Mortal Instruments and most noticeably, his largest hit role till date- Poldark.
But when the actor was quizzed whether his name being tied to James Bond movie franchise was actually true or were these rumours, he finally broke his silence. The dashing 34-year-old actor, assuaging the huge round of guesswork said, currently there’s someone else playing the character. So when he’s done I will have a look at it later. Interestingly before his demise, the legendary British actor, Sir Roger Moore, who was the next Bond after Sir Sean Connery had backed the Irish star for the lead role as the sizzling spy. But for now, there’s seriously no official word on who might turn out in the dazzling secret agent.
For now, it suffices to say that a lot many actors including Daniel Craig’s compatriot Jude Law has also been linked to the role in the past as have been others including Tom Hardy and, Tom Hiddlestone. But none of them were available for a statement having neither confirmed nor denied the linkage of their name to that of perhaps the most iconic screen character alongside the likes of Sherlock Holmes, Batman and the likes.
