Believe it or not, this is the first time when Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks are coming together on screen and that too under the direction of Spielberg, nothing short of a perfect recipe for an Oscar-worthy movie. In fact, many are applauding the timing of the release of The Post, as the subject matter of the movie echoes the relationship between the Trump administration in the US and their media.

The Post is a thrilling drama about the unlikely partnership between The Washington Post’s Katharine Graham (Streep), the first female publisher of a major American newspaper, and editor Ben Bradlee (Hanks), as they race to catch up with The New York Times to expose a massive cover-up of government secrets that spanned three decades and four U.S. Presidents. Both Graham and Bradlee must overcome their differences as they risk their careers – and their very freedom – to help bring long-buried truths to light.

The Post arrives just two years after “Spotlight” which was another drama about the power of the press and it won an Oscar for the best film. The co-writer of Spotlight, Josh Singer, has also worked on the script for The Post which means that the film is in good hands, both in the script, as well as, direction department.

The Post also has an incredible supporting cast from both TV and movies, and it includes Carrie Coon, Alison Brie, Tracy Letts, David Cross, Bob Odenkirk, Bruce Greenwood, Jesse Plemons, Sarah Paulson and many more.

The release of The Post has been scheduled for December 22nd, 2017.

With the release of The Post Steven Spielberg is all ready to commence his rather long and exciting phase of releases. Just three months after the release of this Meryl Streep starrer, the director will debut a big-screen adaptation of Ernest Cline’s virtual reality novel Ready Player One. And, after that, there would be fifth Indiana Jones film which is set for a 2020 release, now that’s a news every Spielberg fans live to listen.
