2. Saving Private Ryan

It is an epic war movie based during World War II. During the Normandy infiltration Captain John Miller is given the task to find Private James Ryan, whose three brothers have been killed in the war.

4. The Bridge On The River Kwai

It is a war movie released in 1957 and directed by David Lean. It is one of the best war movies of all time as it does not involve war but it also shows the struggle of human obsession and emotions. Setup in the theme of World War II, British POWs are forced to build a railway bridge across the river Kwai for their Japanese captors in occupied Burma, not knowing that the allied forces are planning a daring commando raid through the jungle to destroy it. 5. Schindler’s List

Another masterpiece directed by Steven Spielberg, this period war drama unfolds in World War II. The main character Oskar Schindler is a vain and greedy German business tycoon who becomes a humanitarian amid the barbaric German reign when he feels compelled to turn his factory into a refuge for jews. This movie is based on a true story of Oskar Schindler who saved 1100 Jews at the Auschwitz concentration camp. It is not a war movie, it is a movie which teaches us humanity lives in us, it’s only the circumstances which tests our character. 6. Braveheart

This is the story of William Wallace who is a Scottish rebel and he rises up against the cruel English ruler Edward the Longsharks who wants to be the king of Scotland. 7. The Thin Red Line

This war movie is considered as one of the classics directed by Terrence Malick released in 1998. It’s the second screen adaptation of the 1962 novel of The thin red lines by James Jones. The story revolves around a group of soldiers who faced an unlikely battle at the Guadalcanal. They fight against all odds in order to survive and as the war progresses they lose out on each other but still hoping to win the war.
