You admire Hollywood for its free-spirited ways of delivering hit after hit. You have seen Hollywood literally raise the bar where movie production, costume dramas and other scintillating genres stand. And there’s never an end to the limitless possibilities one can find in Hollywood. Not least where acting talent is concerned.
And if you were to particularly search for Hollywood talent from outside the United States, you’d find tons of it in Australia. Australian actors have transformed the fate of Hollywood and added a new dimension of creativity to the film fabric. In mega stars such as Cate Blanchett, Chris Hemsworth, Hugh Jackman, the great and everlasting Heath Ledger, Radha Mitchell among others, there’s no dearth of sheer abundance of talent.
But despite all of that, Hollywood seems to be reeling with an Australian problem. Wonder what that Australia issue is? It’s quite simple. That not many movies are filmed in the wondrous Australian outback or to put it simply, anywhere Down Under- seems to be an issue that has plagued Hollywood-land for ages. But now, it is believed that the tide is changing at least where the present stands.
The federal government of Australia has arranged for what are being called ‘financial sweeteners’ in a bid to encourage shooting of movies in Australia. Accordingly, a $140 million incentive has been offered to Hollywood to take its commanding action-packed adventure wagon to Down Under in a bid to include more of the land of the Great Barrier Reef in its captivating showreel sagas.
Currently a lot many foreign move makers are being encouraged by Australian government to hit its shores and indulge in movie making. And to be honest, there seems to be hardly a reason as to why Australia shouldn’t be included in a Hollywoodian agenda. After all, the majestic continent has pretty much all- oceans, deserts, forests, mountains, and some of the most diverse natural embellishments of flora and fauna. Besides, the Australian culture could be likened to an enterprising spirit full of confidence, radiance and bright sunshine. This can add it’s own gravitas to Hollywood, ever on the lookout for bright talents.
That Australia has a widespread and well-oiled film machinery of its own should fuel Hollywood with the zest about taking to Down Under like the famous 90s cricketing team took to decimating worldwide cricketing attacks. The enthusiasm of Sydney, the charm of Melbourne for starters, the cosmopolitan vibe of both and the unmistakable spirit of alacrity with which Australians ready themselves to creative aspects- lest it be forgotten that they were responsible for creating Wi-Fi and Google Maps- can only add a sparkling new edge to a forever expanding Hollywood passport.
This should be a promising new edge to Hollywood that in its bid to revamp its love with far-reaching destinations can seek in Australia- a spirit of adventure and means to envisage of a new-self inquiry. The quintessential unputdownable Australian character, it is hoped, will guide Hollywood to Australia akin to a Baz Lurhmann guiding showbiz into making multiple human emotions amplify a rock-solid outplay of lusciousness in Moulin Rouge. And if you thought about it philosophically, Hollywood’s burning love for Australia seems a match made in heaven, if you were to consider that the two are already have somethings in common, least of all the number of alphabets in their names.
