There’s nothing fascinating or new to note that a singer also tends to make a debut in the Hindi Film industry. There’ve been the likes of the great and one of a kind Sonu Nigam, famous for Deewana (a 1999 album) who ventured into Bollywood albeit without much success. Of late, we’ve seen singer-turned-comedians as well as comedians who can do both- sing and make one smile- venture into Hindi movies. The likes of the inimitable Kapil Sharma and Sudesh Lehri, both of whom hail from Punjab have made their name in the Bollywood film industry. Then there’s the irrepressible Himesh Reshamiya, a personality you can take out of Bollywood but one from whom you cannot take Bollywood out of! Over the years, his songs have become a household name, as have the recent hits of the famous ‘Patola’ singer Guru Randhawa, who, as news report suggest, will be soon making his Hindi Film debut.
So following on the tracks of famous Punjabi singers in the past that have become established in the film industry, much like Diljit Dosanjh (remembered for movies like Phillauri, Soorma, now one will get to see the prominent and successful singer Guru Randhawa getting to star in front of the camera, just the kind of news that tens of thousands of fans of the famous Punjabi singer would’ve wanted to hear (at least, at some point in time of the young man’s career).
That being told, the following news updates were covered in related to Guru Randhawa’s future film debut on popular publication Bollywood Hungama:
Endemol Shine India today announced a new project starring popular singer-songwriter Guru Randhawa. The film will mark 29-year-old Randhawa’s debut as an actor. The multitalented singer and composer has already played the role of an army officer, a Punjabi munda, romanced Nushrratt Bharuccha, and danced with Nora Fatehi in his music videos such as ‘Mehndi Waale Haath’, ‘Nach Meri Rani’, ‘Ishq Tera’, ‘High Rated Gabru’, ‘Patola’ including the recently launched ‘Nain Bengali’ which have garnered millions of views will now star in a full-length Hindi feature. A musical drama, the story will revolve around the tumultuous journey of a young musician from the depths of anonymity to the crests of fortune and status.
Said an excited Guru Randhawa on his debut, “I’m quite excited to explore new horizons and expand my capabilities, as an artist I’ve always strived to discover myself in new & creative ways. Working on this film was quite an instinctive decision and I’m blessed to have this opportunity to showcase my journey and talent. I’m grateful for Endemol Shine India to believe in my vision as trying something new always comes with a set of challenges and I’m super thrilled to put in all my hard work into it this dream project. I can’t wait to take my fans on this exciting journey with me and I’m sure it will surprise them beyond bounds.”
That being said, one can’t wait to see the famous Patola singer put on his acting chops and produce something remarkable for the audiences to note, an act which might only increase his fan-base across the country.
