When the news of Veere Di Wedding got out, with two leading female producers and an all-female leading cast, it’s was nothing short of a celebration everyone was a part of. Known to be misogynistic in their own ways, Bollywood contributed wholeheartedly even though the support was quite limited at first by the investors. Right at the start of the movie, even before it started being made, Kareena Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor came in the forefront to explain how difficult it’s to find investors for an all-female leading cast movie.
But soon the film got great investors and a great team to work with, and after a long time, they have finally released the first ever Veere Di Wedding trailer and it looks all sorts of amazing.
Veere Di Wedding is a movie about four friends who are completely different from one another but are going through some major issues in their lives. In the midst of all this, Kareena Kapoor’s character Kalindi gets proposed and now she’s getting married in a Big Fat Indian wedding setting with her longtime boyfriend, Sumeet Vyas.
All this happens, while Sonam Kapoor’s character is trying to escape the whirlwind of marriage, especially arrange marriage. Swara Bhaskar’s character is facing a lot of troubles in her marriage and soon getting a divorce, whereas, Shikha Talsania’s character hasn’t had sex in one whole year while raising a family of three.
Apart from having an all-female lead cast, Veere Di Wedding has many other special things about it. It has even been produced by two leading ladies of tinsel town- Ekta Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor. And, this is Kareena Kapoor Khan’s first movie since Abhishek Chaubey’s Udta Punjab and also the first one since her first baby, Taimur.
Veere Di Wedding is spearheaded by Shashanka Ghosh who has earlier made Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II (2003), Quick Gun Murugan (2009), Mumbai Cutting (2010) and Khoobsurat (2014).
