Salman Khan: HC Cleared The Actor In Blackbuck And Chinkara Poaching Cases

Salman Khan is already celebrating the huge success of Sultan and On Monday, the Rajasthan high court  gave him another cause of celebration. Salman Khan was acquitted by the Rajasthan high court in the Jodhpur blackbuck and chinkara poaching cases.

Salman Khan was accused of killing a chinkara and a blackbuck in 1998. He killed these animals in two separate incidents in 1998 for which the Rajasthan high court gave five years sentence in 2006. The actor had appealed to the Rajasthan high court and demanded a lower sentence.

The High Court completed hearing for the two cases of poaching in the last week of May but did not reveal the decision at the time. Salman’s lawyer Mahesh Bora  said that he was falsely framed in these cases, the mere statements of Harish Dulani does not prove anything as he was the driver of the vehicle which was alleged to be used in poaching in both these cases.

On 26-27 September 1998, two separate cases were registered against Salman for poaching of two chinkaras in village Bhawad under section 51 of Wildlife Protection Act. Another one was registered on 28-29 September 1998 for poaching of  one chinkara in Mathania.

The trial Court had convicted the superstar actor in both the cases and sentenced him to one year and 5-year imprisonment on February 17, 2006, and April 10, 2006, respectively. The convictions were challenged by Salman in the sessions court. This action dismissed the appeal in Mathania’s case and transferred the appeal to the high court in Bhawad’s case.

After hearing both the petition in High Court, Justice Nirmal Jit Kaur reserved her judgement and announced it today.
