Rajkummar Rao is one of the most talented actors in India, as of now. From Love, Sex Aur Dhokha to Newton, Rao grew up as an actor and more than that, he grew up as a talented actor. Every Rajkummar Rao project is special in its own way, but if there’s one thing that unites everything that he does then it has to be his acting.
The man knows how to enact emotions on camera, so perfectly well that one just can’t have enough of him, which is why 2017 will forever be known as the Rajkummar Rao year. Rao gave some 7-8 performances last year, and even when the entire film tanked at the box office, his performance was well-appreciated by the audience and critics.
So, getting excited about his next project is almost natural for every Rao fan or movie buff.
The makers of Omerta have finally released the first look into the movie and it looks absolutely amazing. Omerta trailer is not only gripping and intense, but it has something different that would compel you to get excited about its arrival.
Omerta is based on the real-life story of British terrorist of Pakistani descent Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, a notorious real-life terrorist long behind bars. However, this hasn’t stopped him from being involved in various attacks, purportedly including 9/11.
The Omerta trailer opens with shots of Rao in London, along with a voiceover warning him to hold sway of his emotions while carrying out the mission. Soon the entire plot of the movie starts unfurling in this 1 minute and 50-second trailer, which carried out the compelling narrative of the story with finesse. You won’t be able to look away for even a second, due to the fear of missing out on even a single detail from the trailer.
While talking about the movie at the trailer launch, Rajkummar Rao said, “Omerta is among the most researched films that I have worked on till date. We actually visited some of the places frequented by Omar in London during his transformation from an LSE graduation student to becoming this deadly terrorist. I needed to feel and touch this man’s past – to ingest him. It was not an easy journey for me to take. With Omerta and Hansal Sir, we have a combination that will probably leave you stunned. There will be this moment of shock and silence as the end credits roll,” reported by The Indian Express.
Omerta has already been an audience favourite at various film festivals, including Toronto International Film Festival, Busan International Film Festival, and Jio MAMI Film Festival. While Variety reviewed the movie and called it “an expertly staged thriller about a baffling paradox of a real-world man”, Hollywood Reporter called it “a gripping study of evil”.
Omerta is directed by Hansal Mehta, and together with Rajkummar Rao, this duo has made some of the best movies to come out of India in the recent past. This includes Shahid, City Lights and Aligarh, some of the earliest movies from Rao’s career that shaped him as the actor we know very well today.
The film is all set to release on April 20th and we for one are very excited about it.
