Pehli Baar From Dhadak Is A Musical Wonder In Every Way Possible

Dhadak is one of the most anticipated Bollywood releases of 2018 and with each and every new musical or teaser release, the hype is going just above and above. After the massive success of Dhadak title track and Zingaat, the third track from the movie is here – Pehli Baar. It’s a recreated version of Marathi song “Yad Lagla” from Sairat.

If you’ve seen Sairat or even the video of this song then you’ll exactly know how similar these two are. Pehli Baar is the song that signifies the two main lead’s first meeting and it looks super successful on the screen. However, if there’s someone who stands out in every second of the frame then it has to be none other than Ishaan Khattar. The boy is well aware of his ups and downs and plays beautifully with them, something that’s pretty apparent in the song.

As for Janhvi Kapoor, once again, we failed to the see that magic and gritty reality in her eyes. However, this is just a music video, things can take a total 180-degree hit once the movie is in theatres.

Now let’s talk about the music of Pehli Baar. If you’re aware of ‘Yad Lagla’ then you’ll definitely know how larger than life the music was. In fact, do you know, Ajay and Atul incorporated a live orchestra comprising 66 musicians, including a 45-member string section, six-piece woodwinds, a 13-member brass section, one harpist and conductor Mark Graham for Sairat’s album. And, they seem to be doing it once again.

The music of this track is a perfect concoction Rajasthani folk music and western tunes, which gives the song its pan-India appeal.

While everyone is loving the music and Ishaan Khattar, of course, the writing has once again come under the brunt. People are calling out the writing in this track to be just lazy, that is beautifully covered in the garb of being true to reality. The words don’t make any sense, and more than anything, every song has a stature that should be respected and not just fooled around with.

Ajay Gogavale has lent his voice, whereas Amitabh Bhattacharya has penned the lyrics. The music is given by Ajay-Atul and they’re absolutely the stars of this entire thing.

Directed by Shashank Khaitan, Dhadak is all set to release on July 20th.
