Mehbooba from Fukrey returns is finally out and the makers made sure that we get one of the best-rebooted songs ever. Mehbooba is actually a recreated version of “O Meri Mehbooba” from Dharam Veer (1977). If you remember Dharmendra was wooing his angry lady love Zeenat Aman in “O Meri Mehbooba”. However, the track of Fukrey Returns is a whole another setup.
Apparently, it looks like an introductory song of Hunny(Pulkit Samrat), Choocha( Varun Sharma), Lali (Manjot Singh) and Zafar (Ali Fazal). All four boys are pumped up for a new beginning and it starts with a groovy night in a club, where they show off some sassy dance moves with sexy ladies. The best of Mehbooba is that the makers have retained Mohammed Rafi’s voice.
Okay, let’s admit it is unlike “O Meri Mehbooba” as the new lyrics of Kumaar and the saucy rap by Raftaar has changed it completely. To add to that, the voices of Neha Kakkar and Yasser Desai gave it a brand new makeover, yet when the voice of Mohammed Rafi hits, it takes us back to 1977 and remind us of the original song. Isn’t it? Here is the original one for you.
Not only the music of Laxmikant-Pyarelal and lyrics of Anand Bakshi are different from the latest one, but the video of both the songs are poles apart, the only connecting dot between the two is the original lyrics that have been used to remind us the good old Bollywood music.
Talk About Nostalgia! Sob, Sob!
Directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, Fukrey Returns will hit cinema screens on 8 December 2017.
