Deepika looks unbelievable in her new avatar as an acid-attack survivor

She’s quite frankly among the finest actors on the screen. She’s as beautiful as she acts and she acts as wonderfully as she appears on the screen. The world does seem a better place when Deepika is on the screen- right?

Today, it ought to be said, to a good extent the Bollywood fan is one that can be counted into three categories if there’s space for some romanticism. First, you have the ones who don’t like Deepika and find other actresses as undoubtedly, better.

Second, you have those who like Deepika Padukone.

And third, are those who find in Deepika Padukone, a reflection of all that’s right and engaging about Bollywood. To this interesting third category, Deepika Padukone, the actor is quite like an adjective of Bollywood.

To this third group of people for whom Deepika signifies the best that the Indian film industry has to offer, it seems, there’s another bright new reason to smile.

Wondering how?

Deepika in Chhapaak is slated to go big and make hearts cringe with infinite happiness. Not that this is the sub-plot or heading of a forthcoming movie review. But it’s just that, this is precisely what appears most likely once Chhapaak, directed by Meghna Gulzar hits the movie screens soon.

And to that end, what’s most surprising about Deepika in Chhapaak is that neither is one of Bollywood’s finest is going to essay a bubbly charmer as seen in Cocktail nor is she going to play a career-oriented, highly independent soul as seen in Piku.

So, that leaves us with the question that what is Deepika in Chhapaak like?

Well, brace yourselves.

Never has a mainstream Bollywood actress, at least where recent decades in the stream of entertainment stands gotten a chance to play an acid attack survivor. No?

And this is precisely what Deepika Padukone is slated to play in one of 2019’s keenly awaited flicks that has nothing but a good purpose and superb acting at its heart and uncompromisingly so.

Reportedly produced by Fox Studios ( a revered name, isn’t it), in collaboration with Leena Yadav, Chhapaak attempts to pithily explain the life and times of an acid attack victim by the name of Ms Laxmi Agarwal.

That Deepika will do her best in evoking the pain, struggle and, ultimately, the triumph of the human spirit is indeed something that will keep the viewer glued to her or his seat.

But that, in so doing, she is taking a fine leap toward playing more realistic and non-glam roles; and hence going beyond the usual arc of acting is slated to excite as much as it promises to entertain.
