Deepak Dobriyal Explains Why He Couldn’t Be Part Of Salman’s Radhe

It could be said that even today when you rewind back to any particular scene from the famous Tanu Weds Manu or the equally-successful second part of the movie, you would chance upon a slightly unusual but incredibly funny part, one without whom, let’s face it- the film may never have been made: Pappi! One wonders, if Deepak Dobriyal would have not donned the famous character’s role, what might have happened to a character that we so love and perhaps a big reason for whom we revisit one of the most loved movies in the recent decades.

Isn’t it? So when talks surfaced that Deepak Dobriyal- the heart and soul behind the loving adorable friend as only Pappi could’ve been (to Manu)- would star in a mega upcoming film from Salman Khan’s stable, everybody was obviously happy and excited.

Make no mistake. It’s not only Deepak Dobriyal’s famous comic timing and the ability to uncannily express the travails and laughable anecdotes that make him so brilliant but also the sense of simplicity and passion with which he charms audiences in roles that aren’t always in the humor genre. Think, for a second about Hindi Medium.

But then it would’ve been brilliant to see one of the famous megastars of our country in Salman Khan in the upcoming Radhe and Deepak Dobriyal sharing the same screen.

Alas, it is now confirmed- as reports suggest- that this isn’t going to happen.

In fact, the 44-year-old Deepak Dobriyal himself shared the reason why doting fans and the cinema-loving audiences may not be able to see this brilliant pairing on the big screen.

So what happened actually?

Speaking exclusively to the respected Press Trust of India, (PTI), the Garhwal-born actor shared:

“We were going to collaborate on Radhe but I couldn’t be part of it due to date issues. It was a positive role. It would be unfair now to talk about the role. We couldn’t adjust the dates as I had the promotions of Angrezi Medium and then another film of mine got pushed so things didn’t work out.”

Now while we are certainly going to miss one of modern Indian cinema’s versatile actors in the upcoming big release, make space to embrace an exciting big-budget release that only a superstar like Salman Khan can offer.

It’s worthwhile to note that the upcoming release of this year will be produced by Salman’s affable younger brother Sohail Khan (who starred alongside his brother in 2017’s Tubelight, although starring as his elder brother) and is being directed by southern dancing superstar Prabhu Deva. The film will star Disha Patani and Jackie Shroff in important roles with Salman at the helm of the acting affairs.

Meanwhile, here’s more on what is keeping Mr. Deepak Dobriyal busy nowadays:

The actor shared that at present, he’s busy promoting the next upcoming release, an important film, as one would note, in his career: English Medium.

It’s also worthwhile to note that the upcoming Dobriyal-starrer also has one of the most admired of India’s actors in Irrfan Khan, with the duo having etched memorable characters in Hindi Medium, the predecessor, which released in 2017.

That said, Deepak Dobriyal also shared that his not doing Radhe with Salman doesn’t mean he won’t work with the big superstar in the forthcoming days, stating, “I do one film at a time and Salman knows this. If anything interesting comes up will surely work with him.”
