The 1921 Trailer Definitely Looks Scary, But Is It The Best Scary That India Can Produce?

We all can remember 1920. That movie was actually scary, along with a great soundtrack, that gave many sleepless nights to its viewers. However, what followed that was nothing more than a stockpile of cuts from Hollywood horror movies. That’s it.

Now, we have the third installment of the franchise running under the name – 1921, and the trailer actually looks scary. Starring Karan Kundra and Zareen Khan, the 1921 trailer will give you many jump scares and surprisingly it doesn’t appear comical.

1921 trailer shows that the story is based in the year 1921 in which Rose and Ayush battle with extreme paranormal activities created by a ruthless and cursed spirit that would lead them to their ultimate redemption or downfall.

One can easily spot the Vikram Bhatt movie traditions in the 1921 trailer too, there are melodious songs, lovemaking and kissing scenes and some shock scares, a perfect concoction of everything Bhatt stands for. Plus, some of the ghosts shown in the trailer might even remind you of those from Insidious and Conjuring.

However, there’s something different in the 1921 trailer, in comparison to previous installments in the franchise. In the prior two movies, it was the female lead that somehow ended up being possessed by the spirits and then the male leads would save them. But in 1921, it’s the male lead that is possessed by the spirit and now it’s Zareen Khan’s job to save him from dying.

This is Karan Kundra’s first leading role in Bollywood after being last seen in a supporting role in Mubarakan, while Zareen Khan was last seen in erotic thriller Aksar 2.

Now, all we can do is wait to see if the 1921 movie would be as good as the trailer. High time, we need a good and scary horror flick to actually start raving about.

Directed by Vikram Bhatt and produced by Reliance Entertainment, 1921 is all set to release on 12th January 2018.
