Google announced that it has shortlisted six Indian startups for the Google Launchpad Accelerator Program on Thursday. These startups are chosen for mentorship at Google’s headquarters in Silicon Valley, California.
The six startups are Taskbob, Programming Hub, ShareChat, RedCarpet, PlaySimple Games and Magic Pin. They will start the programme on June 13, 2016.
A Google statement said, “The six-month-long mentorship programme for mid to late stage start-ups will include $50,000 in equity-free funding, a two-week all-expenses paid bootcamp at Google headquarters, six months of ongoing mentorship and access to Google’s full suite of Launchpad initiatives and connections and product credits including Google Cloud and other products.”
Paul Ravindranath, the program manager of Google India stated that if these startups will have access to the good mentoring and advice at the early mid-stage of their business, they will unlikely to struggle with UX and they will build scalable architectures and go to market strategy.
He also said that experts from Google and the mentors will help these startups to be more successful. Taskbob is a Mumbai based startup which offers home services. While Mumbai-based Programming Hub provides an app to learn 15 programming languages.
Bengaluru-based ShareChat is a social networking chat app in Indian languages. PlaySimple Games, from the same city that empowers a user to build fun and simple social games.
Delhi-based startup MagicPin enables users to discover local merchants and transact and RedCarpet of Delhi provides credit for online purchases to be paid by in installments.
18 others startups from Brazil, Indonesia and Mexico will also be a part of the second class of Launchpad Accelerator Program.
