Top 5 Reasons To Choose Hero Maestro Over TVS Jupiter

The sale of scooters has become one of the major holdings in the Indian two-wheeler market. This segment is primarily dominated by Honda as the Activa has been the best-selling two-wheeler in India in the first half of 2017, overhauling the Hero Splendor. However, Hero Maestro Edge, the newest entrant in the scooter segment, has also been promising ever since it was introduced.

On the other hand, the TVS Jupiter is one of the finest 110 cc scooters in India. It was first launched in 2013 and has gone through a very few cosmetic update but a lot of colour updates over the last four years.

Despite the TVS Jupiter and Hero Maestro Edge Price being almost at par, one can easily argue that the Maestro Edge is way better than the Jupiter in aspects more than one. Let’s discuss why you should prefer buying the Maestro over the Jupiter, if at all you are planning to buy a new scooter.

The styling

The Hero Maestro Edge, as the name suggests, is far more stylish and edgier than the TVS Jupiter, which is smoother and subtly designed for a sane approach. For an example, the headlamp of the Jupiter is rectangular with body coloured visor. On the other hand, the headlamp of the Maestro is pointed on all corners along with the addition of contrasting black coloured visor. The body graphics and designing are simple and plain on the Jupiter while the Maestro Edge is extremely edgy all across.

Instrumentation

The instrumentation cluster on the Hero Maestro Edge is something to love. It is new and looks unique. The semi-digital setup gets a small digital meter which provides information like a fuel gauge, odometer, trip meter and service interval. The system, though semi-digital, is easy to read and is extremely informative.

On the other hand, the TVS Jupiter has a simpler information display which is completely analog and does not have any such digital screens. You can argue that the system on the Jupiter is easier to read but is less informative as the Maestro.

The ergonomics

There isn’t much of a difference in terms of the ergonomics in both the scooters. But you will definitely feel that the Maestro is easier on you. The seat height on the Maestro is 10 mm more than the Jupiter, which makes the ride quality a little more comfortable for the taller riders. Moreover, the Maestro is around 3 kgs heavier than the Jupiter, which offers better stability. At high speeds, the Jupiter feels a little uneasy and unstable to be controlled.

Both the scooters are made on a rigid chassis and almost the same footboard space. However, the under seat storage on the Maestro is bigger and you can fit in up to two helmets in the provided 22-litre storage space.

The engine

The Hero Maestro is more powerful than the rather simple TVS Jupiter. The Maestro is powered by a 109 cc single cylinder engine which makes a good 8.3 bhp of power at 8,000 revs per minute along with a peak torque of 8.3 Nm at 6,500 revs per minute.

On the other hand, the Jupiter is powered by a similar 109 cc single cylinder engine which produces a lesser power of 7.8 bhp at 7,500 revs per minute along with a peak power of 8 Nm at 5,500 revs per minute. Hence, the Maestro Edge is not just more powerful than the Jupiter but is more responsive too as the high revs kick in at high throttle.

Price

Both the Hero Maestro Edge and the TVS Jupiter is priced at par with each other. They have almost the same price tag. However, one will have to accept that the Hero scooter is a better buy at that price due to various reasons, some of them being the powerful engine, better styling, better features and ergonomics. They might have the same price, the Maestro becomes the ultimate utility pack.

Maestro should be your first choice!

The Hero Maestro has an exclusive showroom price of Rs. 50,502 in New Delhi. Having said that, the TVS Jupiter is priced at Rs. 50,100. So, now you know how to be wise and choose the one based on their features and specifications and not their tenure in the market.
