How Is Ola Offering Help To The Government During The Coronavirus Lockdown?

The booming world of brands regardless of what industry it maybe has halted to a state of motionlessness. The TV is playing the same old news. The WhatsApp updates are constantly beaming with endless updates, some of which are surprisingly even pointing to the cure of the highly infective and needless to say deadly Coronavirus. The neighbors are bunked in their households, the ground in front of the house is empty. Even the birds, dare one say, aren’t all that chirpy. What the hell is going on and importantly, when will all of this stop for better things to happen?

At a time where all the world around is forced to a state of standstill, where it’s easy to get all fussy and crib about what’s going to happen, it’s a bit of a big breather of relief to find someone promptly working toward bringing about a reprieve of sorts.

These are, if you note, times where the mere thought of the welfare of the others sounds strange and deluded since everyone’s busy taking care of the self. Right?

So in that regard, it’s important to understand why and how suddenly Ola has broken through the noiselessness to create an important buzz. Apparently, this is a buzz that may even assist the current government in ways that one may not have imagined.

So here’s what really happened. Ola has joined the fight or movement to help the Indian Government save lives during these torrid times of despair for one and all.

But just how is it doing that? The online platform of Ola, which is capable of tracking the real-time movement or tracking of individuals, is being put into play to assist in navigation and management of crowds.

This same online platform has been made available to the central and state governments to offer useful help, to keep a track of the people.

Now what’s important to note here is that the step has been taken up without the firm costing or demanding a penny from the end-user, which is the Indian government, after all.

On that note, here’s another exciting development. At this point in time, the famous car-booking application has already begun working with the government in Punjab to bring about some relief.

In fact, several tech platforms and online news journals- the only platform of reportage that is most active from the fray of media- have already covered this massively important piece of development.

One journal noted the following insights from the current development and shared:

The platform offers the ability to track millions of vehicles and people, and also comes with a feature that can verify via a selfie picture whether people are wearing masks. Ola uses the latter to authenticate whether the person in the driving seat is the registered driver partner. The company emphasized that it is “ensuring the highest level of data privacy and security.”

The above told, it’s vital to note that the state of Punjab has already benefited from the step in the sense that the major agricultural state of India has been able to tap into Ola’s system for the purpose of issuing digital travel passes instead of relying on paper.

As one may be aware, several state governments in India are already issuing medical passes to many individuals to those professionals who have to travel on an urgent work bases, for instance, think of the medical professionals.

Furthermore, this is important to know:

These capabilities could come in handy to state governments as several cases of large crowds formation in vegetable markets and outside the grocery stores in many parts of the country have emerged in recent weeks, according to local media reports. New Delhi announced a nationwide lockdown last month that restricts people’s movement.
