MV Agusta Brutale 800 has been launched in India at Rs 15.59 lakh (ex-showroom), which is the post-GST price for the new middle-weight bike and is the same throughout the country. The MV Agusta Brutale 800 is the second 800cc offering from the Italian bike maker for the Indian two-wheeler market after the MV Agusta F3.
The MV Agusta Brutale 800 was first unveiled during the 2015 EICMA motorcycle show but it took almost two years to make its Indian debut due to some approval issues. Moto Royale, which is the official importer for MV Agusta in India, have decided to assemble the MV Agusta Brutale 800 in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra and the middle-weight naked bike will take on the likes of recently launched Triumph Street Triple S and Kawasaki Z900, both of which are around Rs 7 lakh cheaper than the MV Agusta Brutale 800.
The newest offering from the Italian bike maker has been termed as the most iconic and powerful bikes ever produced and in its 2017 avatar, the MV Agusta Brutale 800 is said to create its own niche in India.
Evolved Design
The MV Agusta Brutale 800, in itself, is a gorgeous machine with ample of curves and sharp edges, giving it a highly distinguishable look other middleweight contenders, thanks to the legendary designer, Massino Tamburini.
There is an all-new fuel tank, encircled LED DRL on that droopy headlamp which is extremely distinctive when viewed head-on, new tail design with neat and integrated grab rails, and despite the Euro 4 emission norms, MV Agusta Brutale 800 manages to retain the distinctive iconic triple exhaust mufflers that we have grown to love. The instrument cluster is a redesigned all-digital setup and the switch gear has also been upgraded. The rectangular digital console is easily readable.
MV Agusta Brutale 800 now has a longer wheelbase over its previous model and the pillion seat has been redesigned for extra comfort.
Tweaked Engine
The 798 cc in-line triple-cylinder engine continues to power the 2017 MV Agusta Brutale 800, however, the compact engine now gets a host of new changes to its internals like new intake and exhaust cams, pistons and an improved exhaust system for torque response. With these updates, the three-pot beast makes 110PS (down by 17 PS) of peak power at 11,500rpm and 25 per cent more torque (89 Nm). while around 80 per cent of the torque will be available under the 4000 rpm, the peak torque kicks in much lower at 7600 rpm, making MV Agusta Brutale 800 a redlining beast on roads. It comes with a top speed of 237 km/hr.
The 798 cc engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with MV EAS 2.0 slipper clutch technology and the new segment-first bi-directional quick shifter.
Handling
The MV Agusta Brutale 800 has always been a light as well as compact motorcycle, and knows how to speed through tight spots or overtaking in tensed situations, which is one of the major reasons behind its agile handling.
With the 2017 model, the Italian bike maker decided to further improve the chassis on MV Agusta Brutale 800 and have slightly increased the rake and trail positioning, resulting in 20 mm longer wheelbase over its predecessor.
The suspension setup is similar with 43 mm Marzocchi USD fully-adjustable front forks and the rear comes with fully adjustable Sachs unit. Front braking duties are handled by twin 320mm discs with radial-type 4 pistons caliper while a 220mm single disc with 2 pistons caliper from Brembo is offered at the rear. Pirelli Diablo Rosso 3 tyres, 17-inch wheels wrapped in 120 section tyre at the front and an 180 section tyre at the rear, comes as standard with MV Agusta Brutale 800.
MV Agusta Brutale 800 Dimensions

Width: 875 mm
Seat Height: 830 mm

Electronics
The MV Agusta Brutale 800, by all means, is an intimidating motorcycle to ride and there are no seconds thoughts that owners would not be able to resist themselves from churning out the best from the bike. Keeping this in mind, the folks in Italy, have ensured to keep things under control with a host of electronic aids.
The middleweight Italian bike gets Motor Vehicle Integrated Control System (MVICS), which is the latest iteration of MV Agusta’s rider assistance software. The system is a combination of safety techs like 8-level traction control system, ride-by-wire, quick shifter, adjustable riding modes (Rain, Normal, Sport and Custom) and 3-level ABS.
While this creates a major improvement in terms of refinement, the throttle might become a little glitchy at low revs and just a little abrupt for typical road use. But the MV Agusta Brutale 800 craves for highway runs and that is where it truly shines with its posed behavior and eagerness for the redline.
As mentioned above, The MV Agusta Brutale 800 will lock horns with Triumph Street Triple S and Kawasaki Z900, Aprilia Shiver 900 and the Ducati Monster 821 which is expected to launch soon in its BS-IV and the Kawasaki Z900.
However, in terms of pricing, the MV Agusta Brutale 800, priced at ₹ 15.59 lakh, will also rub shoulders with larger litre-class naked bikes and it is going to be a tough task in Indian space.
