Ford Motors Have Recalled A Huge Chunk Of Cars For A Slightly Weird Problem

It’s not an engineering issue. It’s not, in the least, got to do anything with the mileage of the car. Nor has it got to do with some massive letdown in the after-sale services of the brand. And yet there it is; just the kind of thing that Ford Motors wouldn’t have wanted for themselves. Just the kind of thing that one doesn’t wish for even one’s most remorseless competitor. If you are a car enthusiast or even someone who loves to invest in the business of stocks, then probably you have heard of this big breaking news already. Nonetheless, that Ford has recalled as many as 268,000 cars back from the roads is a rather grim story.

Is it not? But the burning question is this: just why did this happen? How did things come to a point where Ford has recalled that many cars. Seriously, it goes without saying, this is a really large number.

The organization facing the heat is no ordinary brand after all. It’s an icon. It’s a legacy. The concern is a massive one. The very fact that Ford has recalled 268,000 cars from the American roads means that something’s definitely not right?

So the question is what had happened that Ford has recalled that large a number of cars that had already been released on the roads?

Well, the truth of the matter is that it may actually seem slightly funny to some of us, but nonetheless, it’s a massive loss to Ford Motors.

So owing to a strange door latch problem, it turns out that Ford has called that big a number that thankfully isn’t close to 3,00,000 vehicles. But what a blow, regardless!

News outlets from the United States have confirmed that cars that were previously running in 16 states spread across the country have been recalled. Now, the Ford Motors company is busy fixing the issue that one might call slightly redonculous.

In fact, not just 16 states, there were Ford cars running even in varied US territories along with the state of Mexico.

Here is what the Fox News network has had to say on the said matter:

DETROIT (AP) — Ford is recalling more than 268,000 cars in North America to fix doors that could open unexpectedly or may not close.

The recall covers 2014 through 2016 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ, and the 2014 and 2015 Ford Fiesta.

Ford says a lever in the door latch can crack and fail. Typically doors won’t close when it fails, but customers may be able to latch it after repeated attempts. If that happens, the doors could open while the cars are in motion.

Ford says it’s not aware of any crashes or injuries caused by the problem.

Dealers will replace the side door latches. Owners will be notified starting May 4.

That being said, just think about it. A door latch problem. And to think of it in terms of the sheer gamut of cars it has come to affect. Who would’ve thought that such a thing would’ve happened ever?

That too, from the stable of such an iconic carmaker?

Over the course of the past decade or so, as the attention of the world has gone onto focus on the electrification of cars, an important area for all brands out there, the likes of the Fusion plug-in along with the 2020 explorer limited (hybrid) are exciting offerings from the American carmaker’s standpoint.
