2017 Triumph Street Triple S Launched in India At Rs 8.50 Lakh

2017 Triumph Street Triple S has been launched in India at Rs 8.50 lakh with more power and a host of cosmetic changes that will bring back the love of naked bikes on the streets. Triumph’s Street series always had a soft spot among a specific segment that wants power for highways and comfort for city driving and that is what 2017 Triumph Street Triple S is all about.

Naked bikes are one of the highest selling two-wheelers around the world due to their aggressive stance and a comfortable posture. Moreover, when it comes to a fan base, sportbikes, cruiser, and off-roaders enjoy a huge market but for those who want all these three characteristics in one bike, 2017 Triumph Street Triple S and the likes emerge as a clear winner for them.

As for 2017 Triumph Street Triple S itself, it is almost a track focused naked bike with great handling capabilities and a smooth engine that never runs out of power even above the 6000 rpm mark. Anyone with basic driving insights can do wonder on the road and especially in India, it comes handy while overtaking on highways and making it through traffic on those bumpy roads.

Design

The bike gets an evolved design theme with sharper styling but it retains the iconic bug-shaped dual LED headlamps (slightly bigger) and comes with a new gull-wing swingarm for torsional rigidity. The 2017 Triumph Street Triple S also gets an all-new bodywork, Black powder coated main frame, sporty twin-seat design and a 10mm higher rider’s perch for perfect posture on long drives.

Engine

2017 Triumph Street Triple S comes with a Daytona 675R-sourced 765cc in-line 3-cylinder, liquid cooled, 12 valve, DOHC engine churning out 111.5 bhp of max power and 73 Nm of max torque at 9100 rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox and it also features new crank, connecting rods, pistons, and balance shifter. It has been tweaked for a longer stroke in order to achieve higher torque which is backed by multipoint sequential fuel injection.

Suspension

2017 Triumph Street Triple S comes with Twin Nissin 310mm floating discs for braking duties, 41mm Showa USD forks with SFF, Brembo mono-block 4-piston 2-pad radial calipers in the front as well as single 255 mm disc and a single 220mm Brembo disc at the rear as well as Nissin single 2-piston sliding caliper at the rear. Both brakes feature switchable ABS.

The suspension duties are performed by Showa 43 mm upside down adjustable forks with
compression damping as well as 120 mm travel and Showa Monoshock with adjustable rebound and compression damping with 130 mm rear wheel travel at the rear.

2017 Triumph Street Triple S rides on 17-inch wheels shod that comes with Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa 120/70 R17 tyres in the front and 180/55 R17 at the rear.

Dimensions

2017 Triumph Street Triple S comes with a 1410 mm-long wheelbase and measures 2065 mm in length and 1060mm in height. The naked bike comes with a fuel tank capacity of 17.4-litres, has a seat height of 810 mm and ground clearance of 165 mm.

2017 Triumph Street Triple S comes in two color options, Diablo Red and Metallic Black, and is priced at Rs 8.50 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Street Triple S will compete against the like of Honda CBR 650F, DSK Benelli TNT 899, Kawasaki Z900, Ducati Monster 821, Aprilia Shiver 900 and the upcoming Ducati Monster 797 in India.
