The all new Triumph Speed Triple is all set to make a touchdown on Indian roads after the launch of Street Triple S in the middle-weight category, Triumph is focused on giving Indian fans its best-naked flagship, the 2017 Triumph Speed Triple.

Triumph India began it’s Journey in the year 2013 and since then, British motorcycle manufacturer has grown tremendously. With the support from its fans and the love for its lineup, the company has grown in demand in 2016.

Triumph’s Speed series has also garnered the love of a specific segment that seeks the comfort and city driving and the power for highway trips and that is what Street Triple S meant for, however, India being one of the fastest developing nations and the number of millionaires being on the rise every year, there has also emerged a segment of avid riders and motorcycling groups that are more inclined towards the 1000cc mean machines, be it in the sportbike category of a tourer. Meanwhile, the naked sports bike category has also risen from the ranks due to its mean looks and brute force that further offers great handling in city driving.

For them, 2017 Triumph Speed Triple will be the ultimate companion and their wait will finally come to an end as the 1050cc bike is coming to India in September.

However, there are a few changes that have been done of the new Triumph Speed Triple, be it in the design or a proper rider-assist package.

The Triumph Speed Triple officially debuted at the 2015 EICMA show in Italy. The updates big-boy is powered by essentially the same inline-three-cylinder, 1050cc motor as the outgoing model but comes with some internal updates like a new cylinder head, new pistons, and Euro-4 emission norms. The engine now produces 140 bhp of peak power @ 9500rpm and 112Nm of peak torque @ 7850rpm, which is up by 13hp/7Nm. The rear-wheel gets the power via a 6-speed gearbox and the engine has been tuned for better power a well as torque across the entire rev band.

This new Triumph Speed Triple is still a little on the heavier side, with a dry weight of 192kg, nearly 30kg heavier than Street Triple 765. This basically means that, while Speed Triple is not going to set any lap records, it also doesn’t shy away from its roughneck reputation, which it has been crafted over the years.

When it comes to Design and Looks, the 2017 Triumph Speed Triple, it has been carried over from the outgoing model. However, it does get bar-end rear-view mirrors, edgier headlights coupled with LED Daytime Running Lights, more sculpted fuel tank (15.5 L), LED indicator lights and matte black twin under seat exhausts.

Instead of a full TFT digital display 2017 Triumph Speed Triple gets a semi-digital display and we can’t really say which one looks better because although the TFT display looks cool, it still misses on the emotional feeling that comes with an analog tachometer.

Since the previous-generation Speed Triple came to India via CKD route and was last priced at around Rs 11.50 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), we expect the 2017 Triumph Speed Triple to be priced at Rs 12.5 Lakh ex-showroom, due to the changes and upgrades. Once launched, it will compete with the likes of Ducati Monster 1200, Kawasaki Z1000, Suzuki GSX-S1000, BMW S1000R, and Honda CB1000.
