2017 Hyundai Verna is all set to be launched on 22 August, 2017 and pre-booking for the third gen model has already begun on 4th August, 2017. The current ongoing model was launched way back in 2011 and since then, we have witnessed little changes being introduced to cope up with the competition.

But the 2017 Hyundai Verna is going to be a whole new ball game altogether and take on segment rivals like Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Volkswagen Vento, and Skoda Rapid. 2017 Hyundai Verna will be built on an all-new K2 platform which is said to be agiler than before. Add-ons in the 2017 Hyundai Verna includes improved steering feedback as well as the suspension, two things that made the previous gen Verna to wobble on high speeds, resulting in a huge drop in sales.

An updates Hyundai Verna was long overdue and it is finally here to shake up the hierarchy with its mini-Elantra like features and looks. The 2017 Hyundai Verna will be based on Russia-spec Hyundai Solaris, and will get some features that were never seen in this South Korean C-segment sedan.

But before going on to these features, let’s talk about the specifications as well as improvements in the 2017 Hyundai Verna.

Under the hood, 2017 Hyundai Verna will get a 1.6-litre petrol engine churning out 121 BHP/ 151 Nm and a 1.6-litre diesel engine making 126 BHP/ 260 Nm. While the power output remains same as the outgoing model, these engines are claimed to be more fuel efficient than the previous model. Both petrol and diesel models of the 2017 Hyundai Verna will be available in 6 trims with options of a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.

Cabin sound, in the diesel powered engine, has been reduced drastically (NVH levels), and 2017 Hyundai Verna works exceptionally well at isolating the cabin from any untoward noises. The 1.6-litre diesel motor is also more linear, turbo-lag has been reduced and power delivery has been refined.

Electronic Sunroof

When Honda City decided to surprise its competitors as well as potential buyers with an electric sunroof, a couple of years back, it turned out to be a decision worth appreciating and now 2017 Hyundai Verna has become the only second vehicle in this segment to boast an electrically operated sunroof.

Hands-Free Boot Release

This is another segment first for the 2017 Hyundai Verna and all you will need to do is wave your foot underneath the rear bonnet and it will pop open.

Cooled Seats

2017 Hyundai Verna comes with a host of segment-first features and this is one of them. ‘Cooled seats’ was a feature last seen in Hyundai Elantra which comes from a high-class segment and costs around Rs 20 lakh. While there is no heating function and in India, users might don’t even miss it.

Eco Coating

Continuing its attack with segment firsts, the 2017 Hyundai Verna also comes with an Eco Coating function that eliminates odour from the AC vents.

The all new 2017 Hyundai Verna, with all these features, is expected to change the status quo of C-Segment sedans and it might be able to rule the sales charts once again.
